About Me

"Practicing Occupational therapy with an osteopathic approach allows me to bring together knowledge from both natural, hands-on healing systems and conventional medicine."

I started studying Osteopathy after experiencing the beneficial effects of treatment myself, with regard to chronic pain.  Having lived with chronic pain, and having results through natural health treatment, I understand the impact that pain has on one's life, and the freedom of overcoming pain through improved health.  The study of human anatomy and physiology, and the connections between the mind and body are endlessly intriguing to me.  My goal is to offer a service that incorporates my hands-on training in Osteopathic Manual Practice with the knowledge gained from my work in a conventional interdisciplinary team, and my personal interests in lifespan studies, natural health, psychology, meditation, yoga and even the study of natural biological systems.

I graduated from the McGill University School of Occupational and Physical Therapy in 1999, and have worked in a community setting in New Brunswick since 2000. In this part time, conventional occupational therapy role, I specialize in home safety, palliative care and dementia assessment in the home, and in seating and mobility assessments, and wound management in long term care facilities. Being an occupational therapist has provided me with a rich understanding of ability and disability across the lifespan, and the chance to be involved in a conventional medical interdisciplinary team.

In 2011, I completed the five years of clinical training in Osteopathic Manual Practice and am currently in the process of completing this certification with the writing of a thesis to obtain my Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice (DOMP) from the Halifax campus of the College D'Etudes Osteopathiques a Montreal.  I began my part-time private practice incorporating an Osteopathic Manual Approach in February, 2011.  I have post-graduate level training in biodynamic osteopathic treatment, under international educator and Osteopath, Bernard Darraillans.
